The club hasn’t publicly announced the date yet, but the front office informed season ticket holders of the news in a letter that went out with their Carolina Challenge Cup tickets late last week. According to the letter, the match is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. It’s a paid-gate event, but included in the season ticket package.
With the Carolina Cup Challenge tournament in February and 14 USL Pro matches already on the Battery’s home schedule between April and August, the March friendly against Wilmington brings the number of scheduled paid-gate events at Blackbaud Stadium this season to 18. One U.S. Open Cup match and an international friendly would put the club at 20 home games for 2012 — a big boost toward keeping things solvent around the clubhouse.
